Today we are making a Panna Cotta recipe. This is an easy and delicious Italian custard that is silky smooth and takes minutes to prepare. You are going to love this Panna Cotta recipe!
Ingredients
Makes 3-4 servings depending on the size of the mold or serving glass
For the Panna Cotta
3/4 cup (170 ml) Milk
1 1/4 cups (300 ml) Whipping/Heavy Cream
1 tbsp (1 sachet) Gelatin Powder
3 tbsp Water
¼ cup (50 grams) Sugar
1 Vanilla Bean/1 tsp Vanilla Extract
For the Strawberry Sauce
1 lb (450 grams) Fresh Strawberries
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Water
1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar
Method
Sprinkle the gelatin over the water, stir it, and keep it aside for 5-10 minutes to bloom.
In a medium saucepan, pour the cream, milk, sugar, vanilla seeds, and bean after scraping out the seeds. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat. Take the pot off the heat, let it rest for 2-3 minutes and then remove the vanilla bean. Â
Add the bloomed gelatin and stir the mixture until the gelatin has completely dissolved. Pour the mixture through a sieve into a measuring jug or any container that is easy to pour from.Â
Now pour it into stainless steel molds/serving glasses/bowls or ramekins. Allow them to cool to room temperature before covering them with plastic wrap and refrigerate until set. This should take about 4 hours but overnight will be better. Â
To prepare the sauce, wash the strawberries, wipe them dry, and cut off the leaves before cutting them into cubes. Toss them into a small saucepan along with the sugar, lemon juice, and water. Bring to a gentle simmer while stirring, and then remove from the heat. Â
Allow it to cool before pouring it into the jar of a blender or food processor. Blend the mixture to make a smooth purée. Now pass the puréed strawberries through a sieve to separate the seeds from the sauce. Let it cool to room temperature, cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve.Â
To serve the panna cotta set in the stainless steel mold or any mold, dip it into a bowl of hot water for not more than 5 seconds, then run a knife around the edge of the mold before inverting it onto a serving plate. Give the mold a few shakes to help the panna cotta release onto the plate. To decorate the panna cotta, pour a generous helping of the sauce on the top and then place a full/ fanned/sliced strawberry, and blueberries on it.
To serve the panna cotta set in fancy glasses, pour some of the sauce on the top and decorate it with a sliced strawberry on the rim of the glass, and blueberries on top for the sauce.
